New Training Equipment Ignites Real-World Fire-Fighting Scenarios

The Fire Science program obtained new equipment for this fall semester that gives students the opportunity to safely train but experience more realistic situations.

The breathing air compressor (pictured left) is to fill Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) bottles, these are the apparatus firefighters use to breathe in burning buildings. They are critical in safety training and firefighting.

The simulator (pictured right) is the second one in the fire tower, which simulates a bed, the other simulates a sofa. Both create a significant amount of fire and allow students to train with safety in mind, while getting real-life experiences.
